Why Is This Important

Why is the Comprehensive Plan important, and why should I care?

As a Town of Washburn citizen, we have the opportunity to live and work in an environment that we have each individually chosen. We either have moved to this area, or we choose to continue to live here. Change is a constant part of life, and as then Town of Washburn changes and develops, we have an opportunity to shape this change in ways that will be beneficial to preserve what drew us to this area, and to improve on what we would like to see in the future.

Change is inevitable, so if we do nothing it will occur, most likely shaped by outside voices and concerns. As with local government, if we do not step forwards to do this, others will make those choices for us.

On a more practical level, the comprehensive plan is used by Town and County officials in making decisions for both short and long range plans. It also meets the requirements of the Wisconsin Comprehensive Law Statute 66.1001.

Community Volunteers

In addition to the regular Plan Commission members, community volunteers are part of the committee to update the comprehensive plan. If you have any input that you would like to send to the committee, or would like to become a community volunteer, contact the plan commission by email plan@townofwashburn.wi.gov.
