Discussed break-in at garage on Nov. 12, 1977. Discussed purchasing Theft Insurance. Motion and second to purchase.

Discussed unpaid personal property tax.

Motion and second that Tues., Dec.6, 1977 be Board of Audit.

Motion and second to pay all current town bills.

Ila and Bill Bromberg were present concerning dog leash law and bear hunting with dogs.

Dog control ordinance was discussed. Motion made and second that dog control ordinance be adopted.  Deputizing Bill Bromberg to help enforce this ordinance was also discussed. Motion and second to appoint Bill Bromberg as deputy with Sherriff’s Department help.

Spraying by power companies was discussed.

Discussed Road Side Seeding project and amount of town costs for program.

Board of Review

The Board of Review met at 10:00 a.m. at the Town Hall with Schwenzfeier, Flonnes, Michalik and Tetzner present. The assessor left word that the assessment roll was not yet completed. The Board of Review was adjourned until July 26, 1977 at 7:00 p.m.

Motion and second to have Clerk and Treasurer arrange for loan of $27,000.00 from Washburn State Bank to finance balance of money needed to pay for 770 John Deere Grader, for five year term with prepayment clause.

Motion and second to renew Fire Protection agreement with City of Washburn for another year.

Motion and second to pay all current town bills.

Discussed blacktopping on Ingo Road.

Special Meeting

Meeting called to order at 8:10 p.m. by chairman Calvin Schwenzfeier. Minutes of May 19, 1977 were read and there being no additions or corrections were accepted as read.

Chairman reported on trip to look at other machines with Robert Day, Bob Grupstra, Jim Michalik, Oscar Flonnes and Leland Harvey. Asked Robert Day to report first. Looked at Wabko, Gallion, and Cat. Oscar Flonnes, Bob Grupstra, Leland Harvey and Jim Michalik then reported.  Had Jim Stephenson, John Deere representative, answer questions as to CB system, electrical switch system and how long have they made articulate machines. They made articulate machines since 1969. Also offered a five year warranty on electrical system. Discussed financing, delivery time, warranty time, service time for repairs and engine repair. Motion by Albert Zifko and second by Oscar Flonnes to vote for either Cat 140 or John Deere 770 by ballot. Motion carried. Appointed Art Nelson and Glen Cook as ballot clerks. Cat – 12 John Deere – 14.

Motion by Jim Michalik and second by Leland Harvey to vote on whether to buy new John Deere or Demonstrator. Motion carried. New John Deere – 2 Demonstrator – 24.

Motion by Joan Cook and second by Bob Grupstra to give Calvin Schwenzfeier and board member authority to sign purchase order.
