Town of Washburn 5-Year Road Plan 2026-2031
Based on June 12, 2026 Road Inspection Tour

The following road categories, (unless otherwise listed), are listed according to priority.  Funding and other factors could change the order of priority within the categories as discernment from the Town Board directs within the 5-year timeframe.

Paved Roads
1. Double Chip Seal on Engoe Road, from the intersection of Engoe/Viater Rd, 1 mile west to Brevak Road (to be executed summer 2026 per State TRI funding secured Oct. 2025).
2. Intersection of Wannebo Road/Church Corner Road on Wannebo Road, two miles west to Pajala Road. Pulverize and asphalt overlay. State LRIP application awarded, spring of 2026. Potential construction, summer 2027.
3. Wannebo Road from Church Corner Road intersection, east 1 mile to Ondossagon Road intersection. Double Chip Seal, potential construction, summer 2027.
4. McKinley Road from Ondossagon Road to Badura’s corner. (1.5 miles), wedge patching & chip seal.
5. Ondossagon Road from McKinley to Wannebo- ½ mile wedging and chip seal.
6. Nevers Road from top of hill to dairy, approx. ¼ mile – pulverize and overlay.
7. Paulson Road from Church Corner Road to South Maple Hill Road – asphalt overlay
8. North Maple Hill Road – pulverize and overlay french drain sections.

Dead End Roads
1. Scholl Road at the end of road: wedging & double chip seal.
2. Ondossagon Road from McKinley to the north- cut out and patch bad spots, pulverize end.
3. Pajala Road-Culverts.

Gravel Roads
1. Brevak Road (Gravel application North of Engoe to Wannebo, and in selection locations South of Engoe).
2. North Church Corner Road – gravel.
3. Rustic Road – .4 of a mile gravel.
4. South Maple Hill Road from the top of “Guske Hill” east to Paulson Road – gravel.
5. West Maple Hill – 1 mile ditch and triple chip seal.
6. North Maple Hill Road at intersection of West Maple Hill Road, triple chip seal west approx. 1/8 mile. Proceed when item #5 is chip sealed.

Forest Service Roads                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Potential crack sealing on FR236 – Explore a Forest Service grant for this via partnering w/neighboring Towns who also have the road within their boundaries.

Yearly Crack Seal Maintenance (5-year goal:15 – 18 Road Miles)
1. Church Corner Road from Paulson Road to Wannebo Road (1.5 Miles). Projected completion, Fall 2026.
2. Wannebo Road at Intersection of Ondossagon Road to Church Corner Road (1 Mile). Projected completion, Fall 2026.
3. Big Rock Road from County C, North to Maki Road (1 Mile). Projected completion, Fall 2026.
4. North Maple Hill Road from the intersection of Church Corner Road to West Maple Hill Road (1 Mile). Projected completion, Fall 2026.
5. South Maple Hill Road from the intersection of Church Corner Road west to top of first hill (.3 Mile). Projected completion, Fall 2026.
6. Scholl Road from the intersection of McKinley Road west (.44 Mile). Projected completion, Fall 2026.
7. Old County C Road.
8. Pajala Road.
9. Engoe Road from Bjork Road west to Ondossagon Road – work w/Town of Barksdale for ½ funding.
10. Ondossagon Road, North of McKinley Road to end.
11. McKinley Road, Badura’s corner to County C.
