Meeting Minutes December 11, 2001
DECEMBER 11. 2001
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Tetzner, Chapman, Ewer, Mihalck, and Jamie Cook. Also Gary Maki, Ed & Bea Pajala, and Joe Scholl.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Minutes of November 13, 2001 were read and written copies given to Board members. Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried.
Donna presented her report. Motion by Cook and a second by Ewer to accept. Motion carried.
Gary gave his report. New radios for equipment installed, brushing, new brushes for sweeper, and tree cutting on Nevers & Maple Hill South.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Cook to purchase repairs for sweeper. About $300.00. Motion carried.
Received floppy disk from Northwest Regional Planning concerning Paser Ware program for Town highways. Jamie Cook will get computer equipment to use it and possible print out.
Joe Scholl reported on the out of state resident snowmobile accident and charges.
Ed Pajala commented on nice looking Christmas lights. Also requested Pajala Road be included in future planning for black top.
Motion and a second to pay all current Town bills.

Meeting Minutes November 27, 2001
NOVEMBER 27, 2001
Budget hearing called to order at 7:00 P.M. Present Tetzner, Mihalek, Ewer, Cook and Gary Maki.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Budget was reviewed and questions answered. Motion by Ewer and a second by Cook to adjourn Budget hearing. Motion carried.
Jamie Cook was sworn in as new Supervisor.
Special Town meeting of Electors was called to order at 7:15 P.M. Purpose to vote on Town levy. Motion by Tetzner and a second by Ewer to adopt a Town levy at the same mill rate as 2001 $39,980.43. Motion carried. Purpose of funds from levy, to pay for fire and ambulance service from City of Washburn. Town meeting adjourned.
Town Board meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Motion by Ewer and a second by Cook to adopt 2002 Highway budget of $320,000.00 and general fund budget of $60.000.00, total $380,000.00. Motion carried.

Meeting Minutes November 13, 2001
NOVEMBER 13, 2001
Regular mecting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Mihalck, Ewer, Tetzner, and Chapman. Also Gary Maki, Joe Scholl, and Jamie Cook.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Minutes of October 9, October 15, October 30, and November 6, 2001 written copies were given to Board Members. Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried,
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to adopt resolution concerning a bond for collecting State and County property taxes. Motion carried.
Treasurer gave her report. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to accept. Motion carried.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to pay Economic Development dues for another year, $811.50. Motion carried.
Discussed receiving FEMA money (Flood Damage) in the amount of $79,046.23.
Reviewed ambulance bill from City of Washburn for out of State resident ambulance call. Ken Ewer had contacted Bill Bussey, attorney. Will hold check until further checking by Joe Scholl and Ken Ewer.
Received two applicants for Town Board vacancy. Jamie Cook and Tom Cogger. Motion by Ewer and a second by Tetzner to appoint Jamie Cook. Ayes 3, No’s 0. Motion carried.
Gary gave his crew report. Need of new radios on equipment. Hiring of new employee, cell phones or radios. Damage to Tom Arson’s barn from snowplow, trading work with Town of Bayview, and tire chains.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to pay Tom Arnson for snowplow damage. Motion carried.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to allow Clerk to pay lease payments to be in compliance with State Highway Aids. Motion carried.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to purchase and stockpile 1500 yards gravel by year-end. Motion carried.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to allow Assessor $2,000.00 extra for reevaluation in 2002. Motion carried.
Motion by Jamie Cook and a second by Ewer to pay all current Town bills. Motion carried.

Meeting Minutes November 6, 2001
NOVEMBER 6, 2001
Special Board meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. Present Mihalek, Ewer and Tetzner. Purpose to interview three job applicants.
Meeting notices Were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to go into closed session. Motion carried.
Interviewed Duane L. Hopkins at 7:00 P.M., Mike Nelson at 7:30 P.M. and Gerald Hesterberg at 8:00 P.M. Reviewed their resumes with them, explained Union Contract with Town Employees and answered questions from both applicants and Town.
After much discussion concerning applicants, there was a motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to go out of closed session. Motion carried.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to hire Gerald Hesterberg to start about December l, 2001. Motion carried.
Reviewed the applications of two Town of Washburn residents applying for the vacancy on Town Board.

Meeting Minutes October 30, 2001
OCTOBER 30, 2001
Special meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. Present Mihalek, Tetzner, Ewer, and Gary Maki. Purpose of meeting to review job applicant resumes and pick some for interviews.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to go into closed session. Motion carried.
Received resumes from 23 applicants. Reviewed them all and narrowed applicants down to three. Duane Hopkins, Mike Nelson, and Gerald Hesterberg.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to go out of closed session. Motion carried.
Reviewed agenda for November 13 regular meeting including Town Board vacancy.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to have special meeting November 6 to interview three applicants. Motion carried.

Meeting Minutes October 15, 2001
OCTOBER 15, 2001
Special meeting called to order at 10:00 A.M. Present Tetzner, Mihalek, Ewer, also Gary Maki and Carl Talvitie.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press. Purpose of meeting to consider hiring a 3rd full time employee. After discussion there was a motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to hire a third employee. Motion carried.
Motion and a second to place ad in Daily Press for meeting on October 30, 2001.

OCTOBER 9, 2001
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Tetzner, Wyzlic, Ewer, Mihalek and Gary Maki. Also Duane Hopkins. Tom Cogger, and Dave Cook. Absent Donna Chapman.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Minutes of September 11, 2001 were read and copies given to Board members. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to accept. Motion carried.
Gary Maki gave his crew report. Sand salt, getting equipment ready for winter, Town help.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to approve Duane Hopkins request to put a mobile home and privy on SESE Sec 25-49-5. Motion carried.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to approve Kurt Kiehnes request to construct a building and start a repair shop on N 3/8 of NWSW Sec 26-49-5. Motion carried.
Discussed letter from Paul Kacvinsky for tree damage. Motion and a second to file until future date and review.
Received written resignation from Shane Wyzlic as Town Chairman. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to accept. Motion carried.
Received bill from City of Washburn for ambulance service for out of state person who was injured in snowmobile accident. Filed for further review.
Motion by Ewer and a second by Tetzner to appoint Dick Mihalek temporary Chairman. Motion carried.
Discussed Town employee situation and will have special meeting October 15, 2001 for solution.

Regular meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. Present Mihalek, Ewer, Tetzner, Wyzlic, and Chapman. Also Mark McGinley, Larry Edwards and Gary Maki.
Minutes of August 14, 2001 were read and written copies given to Board Members. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to accept. Motion carried.

Treasurer gave her report. Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried.
Discussed TRIP program possibilities on North ½ mile of Ondossagon Road.
Larry Edwards of Scheidecker Pit Pumping appeared concerning damage his trucks did to Nevers Road while hauling manure for Paul Kacvinsky. The Town held their position on some damage payment from Kacvinsky.
Gary gave his report, blacktop patching, gravel hauling, culvert replacement and personal policy review.
Motion and a second to pay all current Town bills.

Meeting Minutes August 14, 2001
AUGUST 14, 2001
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Tetzner, Chapman, Ewer, Mihalek, Wyzlic, and Gary Maki.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Minutes of July 10, 2001 were read and written copies given to Board members. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to accept. Motion carried.
Donna gave Treasurers report. Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried.
Gary gave his crew report. Roller trailer, road repairs, forestry roads, mowing grass and patch blacktop.
Received estimate from Jim Tetzner to rewire Town hall for between $1300.00 to $1600.00. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to grant contract. Motion carried.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to purchase 1500 yards more gravel from Comnon Trucking when we receive FEMA money. Motion carried.
Motion and a second to purchase Plat Books for Town officials. Motion carried.
Motion and a second to pay all current Town bills.

Meeting Minutes July 10, 2001
JULY 10, 2001
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Mihalek, Tetzner, Wyzlic, Ewer and Chapman. Also present Steve Bade, Jim Radke, Bob Brander, Timm Kane, Gary Maki, Chuck Groves, Tom & Connie Cogger, Joe Scholl, Kerry Tetzner, Terry Bahe, Bob & Marcia Pratt, Roy & Settgas, and Sheri Cook.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Minutes of June 12, 2001 were read and written copies given to Board Members. Motion by to Mihalek and a second by Ewer to accept. Motion carried.
Donna gave her Treasurer’s report. Motion by Ewer and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried.
Received finished copies of Land Use Plan. Most members of committee were present. They received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Town and a big thank you. Details are in News release to be published in the Ashland Daily Press and County Journal.
Jim Radke from Town of Bayview presented information on Bayfield County economical on development Corp. whose motto is “Work Where You Play”.
Discussed Paser Road Evaluation. Received two proposals from Northwest Regional Planning and Bergman Companies. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to go with Northwest Regional Planning at a cost of about $1200.00 this is a State requirement to qualify for road aids this coming year. Motion carried.
Discussed ATV routes. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to extend present plan one more year. Motion carried.
Steve Bade discussed control of noxious weeds, particularly Leafy Spurge, which is taking over vacant fields and on Maple Hill and roadsides.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Ewer to grant Kevin Stephenson permit to build a house on e a a parcel of SE NW Sec 17-48-5. Motion carried.
