Meeting Minutes May 5, 1998
MAY 5, 1998
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Miller, Mihalek, Wyzlic, Chapman, and Tetzner. Also Joe Scholl, Chuck Groves, Ed Pajala, Barb Tellier, Gary Maki, and Bob McMahon of Fahrer Asphalt.
Minutes of April 8, 1998 were read and written copies given to Board Members. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to accept. Motion carried.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Donna presented the Treasurer’s report. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to accept. Motion carried.
Bob McMahon of Fahrner Asphalt gave a presentation on asphalt maintenance. He had checked various roads and reported on which needed tape patching. He offered a contract.
Received one gravel bid from C & W Trucking for $9.90 per yard. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to accept this bid. Motion carried, From Gurney Pit.
Barb Tellier talked about fast traffic on Wannebo Road. Will be agenda item in June.
Received request from Thomas Lee to build a non ag building on NE SE Sec 27-49-5. Request granted.
Received request from Conrad Seagrave to build a cabin and privy on SE NW Sec 2-48-5. Request granted.
Liquor License Reported to the Board that Signa Groves of C-Side Inn applied for a Class B Combination Liquor License.
Joe Scholl asked for ATV status for River Road, McKinley Road and various other roads. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic that River Road or Scholl Road be open to ATV’s. Motion carried.
Gary Maki reported on road projects.
Jim Miller reported on Public Meeting on Forest Road #697. Also on first planning committee meeting.
Set Board of Review for Tuesday June 9, 5:00-9:00 P.M.
Motion and a second to pay all current Town bills.

Annual Meeting Minutes April 14, 1998
TOWN OF WASHBURN ANNUAL MEETING
MINUTES – APRIL 14,1998
Annual meeting called to order by Chairman Miller at 7:00 P.M. Minutes of April 8, 1997 were read. Motion by Shirley Haugen and a second by Steve Bade to accept as read. Motion carried.
Discussed 1997 audit report. Motion by Steve Bade and a second by Robert Pratt to approve report. Motion carried.
Ray Kiewit of U.S. Forest Service explained the reasons for the possible closing of the North 1/4 mile located in the Town of Bayview of Forest Road #697. Steve Bade and Ed Pajala spoke against closing this road.
Motion by Steve Bade and a second by Bob Brander that Town of Washburn oppose closing this portion of Forest Road #697 and work with Town of Bayview and Forest Service in accomplishing this while maintaining environmental concerns. All aye votes. Motion passed unanimously.
Steve Bade and Jim Miller reported on Town of Washbum long range planning committee first meeting coming up.
Joe Scholl reported on ATV routes and signing of these roads. Also some new routes need to be added.
Discussed progress of 911 in the County. Also new road signs needed that will conform to new standards.
Discussed a possible Town Social to be held in the Town garage.
Motion by Ed Pajala and a second by Shirley Haugen to have next Annual meeting one week from Spring Election at 7:00 P.M. Motion carried.

APRIL 8, 1998
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Mihalek, Wyzlic, Tetzner, and Chapman. Absent Miller. Also present Gary Maki, Jerry Haugen and Bob Brander.
Minutes of March 3, 1998 were read and written copies given to Board members. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to accept. Motion carried.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and in the Daily Press.
Donna gave Treasurer’s report. Motion by Wyzlic and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried. Donna reported on some dog licenses not being purchased.
Gary Maki reported on culverts needed. Two on Engoe Road for sure. Will get C&W Construction for backhoe. Discussed number of culverts on Town roads.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to let bids for 2500 yards of road gravel, preferable out of Gurney Pit. Motion carried.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to bill Town of Bayview for gravel on 1/4 mile of Foresty Road #697. Motion carried.
Discussed Bayviews 1/4 mile on Forest Road #697 North of Town of Washburn border.
Bob Brander reported on noise from screening sand operations at Brevak’s pit, 600 feet from Brander’s house. He would like some quiet time in May.
Motion and a second to pay all current Town bills.

Meeting Minutes March 3, 1998
MARCH 3, 1998
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Miller, Mihalek, Wyzlic, Tetzner, and Chapman. Also present Joe Scholl, Jim Deeth, Bob Pratt, and Gary Maki.
Meeting notices were properly posted in the Daily Press and three public places in the Town.
Minutes of February 3, 1998 were read and written copies given to Board Members. Motion by Wyzlic and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried.
Donna gave Treasurer’s report. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to accept. Motion carried.
Reviewed accident reports since 1994 in Town of Washburn.
Roffers Construction wants permission to bring crushing equipment into Brevak’s pit over posted roads. Town Board will grant this request, preferrable using Town Hall Road.
Gary Maki gave Road Foreman report. Garage roof repairs, grader electrical problems, brush tractor deck, ample supply of road sand and salt. He also discussed the City of Washburn having a used Toro Mower for sale for about $800.00 to $1,000.00. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to give Gary permission to purchase. Motion carried.
Motion by Miller and a second by Mihalek to grant Gary Maki full union contract pay as of March 15, the end of the six months probation period. Motion carried.
Motion by Wyzlic and a second by Mihalek to pay Donna Chapman $130.00 for computer repairs. Motion carried.
Motion and a second to pay all current Town bills. Motion carried.

Meeting Minutes February 3, 1998
FEBRUARY 3,1998
Regular meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present Miller, Wyzlic, Mihalek, Tetzner, Chapman, and Gary Maki. Also Don Haugen, Bob Brander, Jim Deeth and Marcia Pratt.
Minutes of January 6, 1998 were read and written copies given to Board Members. Motion by Wyzlic and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried.
Donna presented Treasurers report. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to accept. Motion carried.
Meeting notices were properly posted in three public places in the Town and published in the Daily Press.
Shane Wyzlic presented information on a computer for Town garage. Motion by Mihalek to purchase Gateway Computer for $1499.00 and a second by Wyzlic. Motion carried. Shane will go ahead and purchase.
Gary Maki gave Town crew report, including computer training, sand/salt supply, tool purchases, plowing driveways, and Leland Harvey absenteeism.
Jim Miller reported on land use committee. Roy Settgas, Bob Brander, Steve Bade, Chuck Groves, Jim Deeth, Larry Badura, Kathleen Russell, Terry Bahe, Kerry Tetzner, Garit Tenpas, and Shirley Haugen were initial nominees by Town Board consent.
Dick Mihalek reported on TRIP grant report.
Marcia Pratt thought roads not being plowed early enough in the morning compared to Barksdale.
Motion and a second to pay all current Town bills. Motion carried.

Meeting Minutes January 6, 1998
JANUARY 6, 1998
Regular meeting called to order at 7:25 P.M. Present Miller, Mihalek, Wyzlic, and Tetzner. Donna Chapman, absent. Also present Gary Maki, road foreman, Steve Bade, Bob Brander, Ed & Bea Pajala, Albert & Sybil Zifko, Donald Haugen, Larry Badura, Tom Arson, Ken Ewer, Roy Settgas, James Deeth, John Olsen, Terry Bahe, and Chuck Groves.
Minutes of December 2, 1997 were read and written copies given to Board Members. Motion by Wyzlic and a second by Mihalek to accept. Motion carried.
Discussed Treasurer’s report. Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to accept. Motion carried.
Discussed the possible closing of Forest Road #697 North 1/4 mile located in the Town of Bayview. All people present who spoke on the closing were against closing this road. Of the 19 people present, 16 were in favor of keeping the road open. First step is to meet with Town of Bayview Board and get a long term agreement.
Jim. Miller reported on discrimination complaint against the Town by Brian Harvey. Action agaınst Town Board members was set aside. Also action against the Town was dismissed by the equal rights division of the Wisconsin Workforce Department.
Gary Maki gave Town Crew report, reporting on equipment purchases, brushing needed on Town roads, and one garage door opening by itself.
Dick Mihalek reported on a security system for Town buildings.
Jim Miller reported on progress of a land use plan and the process of getting a committee organized . Roy Settgas explained the difference between County Zoning and a Town Land Use Plan.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to send Gary and Dick to Road School in Cable. Motion carried.
Motion by Mihalek and a second by Wyzlic to pay all current Town bills. Motion carried.
