Fire Contract/EMS Meeting Minutes
Washburn City Hall
Present: John Nyara, Town of Barksdale, Don Jenicek & Mike Garnich, Town of Bayview, Scottie Sandstrom, Seth Vasser and Matt Tetzner, Town of Washburn, Mary Motiff, City of Washburn Mayor, Scott Rasmussen, City Budget Consultant (online), Jim Williams, City of Washburn Administrator, Tammy DeMars, Clerk & Tony Janisch, Assistant Administrator, City of Washburn, Mark Gunthier, City of Washburn Fire Chief.
Jim Williams and Mary Motiff noted that they want to proceed with providing the Towns with a 5-year Fire Contract, and have a separate EMS Contract to be extended one year, and then have a 5-year EMS Contract to begin in 2028. Don Jenicek, suggested they do that as a 4-year contract so it will end when the Fire Contract ends 5 years from now to be at the same timeframe. That suggestion made sense to all present.
The concept of fairness of costs between all parties in both Fire and EMS Contracts was again brought up, with operational costs and fixed costs to be clarified as well.
The City intends to provide both the 5-year Fire Contract numbers and one year EMS extension Contract numbers to the Towns by the end of next week, so the Towns can have these items on their September 8 Town Meeting agendas for potential approval.
Seth Vasser made a motion to adjourn.
Respectfully Submitted,
Scottie Sandstrom, Chair
Town of Washburn
