Wannebo Road Construction News

Construction on Wannebo Road between Ondossagon Road going east to Chequamegon Heights (2 miles)

This project will involve pulverizing the existing pavement, then applying a new asphalt surface. Construction is expected to be between July 29 through just before Labor Day.

Pulverizing is set to begin by the contractor, Northwoods Paving, on Monday July 29.  The entire old asphalt surface, including the shoulders on both sides of the road will be ground up, utilizing the old materials for base underneath the new asphalt layer.

Road construction signs and staking for the project will be put up before July 29th. The pulverizing process will take 3 to 4 days, and will then be left to settle for one week before laying down the new asphalt.

Wannebo Road will be open during construction with flaggers controlling traffic through one-way sections.

Construction Hours of Operation:

The contractors will be operating from dawn to dusk between Monday and Friday. Some construction may occur on Saturday. During this time, there will be additional noise from heavy equipment such as dump trucks, pulverizing equipment and asphalt laying.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route to avoid the construction zone. Reduce your speed if traveling through the construction zone, especially after the pavement has been pulverized to avoid kicking up gravel. Please obey all posted signs and instructions from flaggers.

Update: As of the end of the week on 08/23/2024 the shoulders were completed. This was the last part of the project, so it is now completed.
