Town of Washburn 5-Year Road Plan 2024-2029

The Town of Washburn is required to have a 5 year road plan. This plan prioritizes which roads may have maintenance in the future. This priority list is updated periodically and is used for planning, budgeting, and applying for funding grants.

This document is for planning purposes. If a road is listed, it does not necessarily mean that the road will be updated by any specific date. Funding and other factors could change the order of priority within the categories as determined from the Town Board during the 5-year timeframe.

The following road categories, (unless otherwise listed), are listed according to priority.

 

Paved Roads

  1. Wannebo Road from Chequamegon Heights to Ondossagon- 2 miles, repave, add shoulders (BIL grant).  Projected completion late summer/early fall 2024.
  2. Asphalt replacement:  Engoe Road from Bjork Road toward STH 13 Termini, 3950’. (2025).
  3. Double Chip seal on Engoe Road, from the intersection of Engoe/Viater Rd, 1 mile west to Brevak Road.
  4. “S” Curve 1/8th mile project, pulverize and asphalt overlay.
  5. McKinley Road from Badura’s corner to Ondossagon Road-2 miles, wedge & chip seal.
  6. Ondossagon Road from McKinley to Wannebo- ½ mile wedging and chip seal.
  7. Paulson Road from Church Corner Road to South Maple Hill Road – asphalt overlay
  8. Nevers Road from top of hill to dairy – pulverize and overlay.
  9. North Maple Hill Road – pulverize and overlay sections.

Dead End Roads

  1. Scholl Road at the end of road-pulverize and pave.
  2. Ondossagon Road from McKinley to the north- cut out and patch bad spots, pulverize end.
  3. Pajala Road-Culverts.

Gravel Roads

  1. North Church Corner- .9 miles culvert sleeve and gravel.
  2. Hove Lane – Gravel overlay.
  3. West Maple Hill- 1 mile ditch and pave.
  4. Rustic Road-.4 miles gravel.
  5. Sky Road-gravel.

Forest Service Roads

  1. 251-pulverize & repave 1 mile, RAC grant (Projected for summer/fall 2024 completion).
  2. 251-gravel from 236 going east with $100,000 worth of gravel RAC grant. (Projected for summer/fall 2024 completion).
  3. Broken Rock- Contract with Forest Service.

Yearly Crack Seal Maintenance (5-year goal: 15 – 18 Road Miles)

  1. Ondossagon Road (1 mile) Projected Completion 2024.
  2. Nevers Road (2 miles) Projected Completion 2024.
  3. Church Corner Road (4 miles), from Wannebo Road to County TRK C (Potential 2024).
  4. Ondossagon Road to Church Corner Road (1 Mile).
  5. West of Church Corner/Wannebo Road intersection on Wannebo to Pajala Road (1 mile)
  6. Sky Road – ¼ mile (Prioritize wide depressed patches).
