2026 Dog License Information

2026 Dog Licenses – There are two different options for licensing your dog in 2026. April 1, 2026 is the deadline to license your dog.

Online – this is a new option in 2026 to license your dog online.  Please go to doglicenses.us/WI/Bayfield/ to license your dog.

–  Mail – Please go the Town of Washburn website to download the dog license application form and mail that into the Town of Washburn Treasurer, along with a copy of your rabies vaccination record and a check. Mailing address is Town of Washburn Treasurer, P.O. Box 216, Washburn, WI 54891.

You only need to provide a copy of vet papers to show proof that a dog has an up-to-date rabies vaccination.

2025 Property Tax Information

Property tax information – Updated 12/29/2025

Tax bills were mailed out mid-December.

1. Lottery tax credit: If you are a new resident that resides in the Town of Washburn and this is your primary residence as of January 1, 2022, please go to:
https://www.revenue.wi.gov/DORForms/201c-100f.pdf and print the LC-100 form to be filled out and returned to me or Jenna Galligan at the County Treasurer’s office.

2. If you would like a receipt for your tax payment, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment. OR you can also go to the Public area of Novus found on the Bayfield County Website and check your payment status using your tax id number. https://www.bayfieldcounty.wi.gov/716/Real-Property-Tax-Data (Scroll down to the instructions to get into the program.) or go directly to Novus  https://novus.bayfieldcounty.wi.gov

3. Payments are due to the treasurer by the last day in January. Tax payments after that must be sent to the County Treasurer for posting. Please remember to include your tax stub with your tax id number on it. If you are paying through a mortgage company it is nice for them to indicate your tax id number on the paperwork sent in. If you lost your tax invoice go to Novus https://novus.bayfieldcounty.wi.govFollow the instructions, type in your name OR tax id number and go to the tab that says Tax Bill. Scroll down and print.

4. Payments postmarked Dec. 31st or prior will be posted in December. However, the checks may all not be deposited into our bank until January so they will not be on your December bank statement.

5. The township’s website has a variety of information regarding board meetings, license permits, and numerous other tabs. The website is: https://townofwashburn.wi.gov.

7. The treasurer will be at the town hall to collect cash payments on Saturday, Jan. 3 from 10-12 pm.

8. If you have questions, please email me with your name/address/phone and tax id numbers. I will respond as quickly as I can. It is easier than a phone call.

9. If you do not have a computer or internet access and need any forms as mentioned above, please call me and I will mail the specific form to you.

10. I cannot answer questions about taxes on land sold or purchased during the last year. I just send out and collect what is on the tax bill given to me by the land records office.

Town of Washburn 5-Year Road Plan 2025-2030

Based on June 13, 2025 Road Inspection Tour

The following road categories, (unless otherwise listed), are listed according to priority.
Funding and other factors could change the order of priority within the categories as
discernment from the Town Board directs within the 5-year time frame.

Paved Roads

  1. Double Chip seal on Engoe Road, from the intersection of Engoe/Viater Rd, 1 mile west to Brevak Road (to be executed spring/summer 2026 per TRI funding secured Oct. 2025).
  2. Intersection of Wannebo Road/Church Corner Road on Wannebo Road, two miles west to Pajala Road.  Pulverize and asphalt overlay.  State LRIP application to be sent in fall of 2025, with hopeful confirmation of grant in spring of 2026.
  3. McKinley Road from Badura’s corner to Ondossagon Road.  2 miles, wedge & chip seal.
  4. Ondossagon Road from McKinley to Wannebo- ½ mile wedging and chip seal.
  5. Nevers Road from top of hill to dairy – pulverize and overlay.
  6. Paulson Road from Church Corner Road to South Maple Hill Road – asphalt overlay
  7. North Maple Hill Road – pulverize and overlay sections.

Dead End Roads

  1. Scholl Road at the end of road-pulverize and pave.
  2. Ondossagon Road from McKinley to the north- cut out and patch bad spots, pulverize end.
  3. Pajala Road-Culverts.

Gravel Roads

  1. Brevak Road (Gravel application North of Engoe to Wannebo, and in selection locations South of Engoe).
  2. North Church Corner Road – gravel.
  3. Rustic Road – .4 of a mile gravel.
  1. West Maple Hill – 1 mile ditch and pave.
  2. North Maple Hill Road at intersection of West Maple Hill Road, pave west approx. 1/8 mile. Complete when item #4 may be paved.

Forest Service Roads

  1. FR251- Complete shouldering on paved portion west of Long Lake entrance, Fall 2025.
  2. Broken Rock- Purchase via 2025 Contract with Forest Service.

Yearly Crack Seal Maintenance (5-year goal:15 – 18 Road Miles)

  1. Nevers Road (1 mile) from Chequamegon Heights Rd to Bjork Rd.  Projected Completion Fall 2025.
  2. Church Corner Road (1 mile) from County Trk C to Paulson Road.  Projected Completion Fall 2025.
  3. Chequamegon Heights Road to Sky Road (1/4 Mile).  Projected Completion Fall 2025.
  4. Sky Road from Chequamegon Heights Road west (1/4) Mile. Projected Completion Fall 2025.
  5. Church Corner Road from Paulson Road to Wannebo Road (2 miles).
  6. Wannebo Road at Intersection of Ondossagon Road to Church Corner Road (1 Mile).
  7. West of Church Corner/Wannebo Road intersection on Wannebo to Pajala Road (1 mile).
  8. Big Rock Road.
  9. Old County C Road.
  10. North Maple Hill Road.
  11. Pajala Road.
  12. South Maple Hill Road (from Church Corner Road to top of first hill west).
