TOWN OF WASHBURN ANNUAL MEETING
MINUTES – APRIL 8, 1997

Annual meeting called to order at 7:04 P.M. by Chairman Mihalek.

Minutes of April 9, 1996 were read. Motion by Ed Pajala and a second by Robert Pratt to accept as read. Motion carried.

Discussed 1996 audit report. Motion by Ed Pajala and a second by Bertha Talvitie to accept. Motion carried.

Richard Mihalek discussed road name changes needed in the Town for emergency 911. Engoe- Zifko, Pajala – Zifko Road, Peterson Road, Paulson-Hokanson Road, and Tomlinson – Brevak Roads. Roger Hammer & Roy Settgas private driveways. Diane & Robert Brander private driveway

Motion by Pajala and a second by Swanson to name present Brevak Road and Tomlinson Road, Brevak Road. Motion carried.

Motion by Pajala and a second by Haugen to name Zifko Road and 1/4 mile stub – Streckers Road. Motion carried.

Motion by Shirley Haugen and a second by Bertha Talvitie to name present Paulson Road and Hokanson Road, Paulson Road. Motion carried.

Motion by Ed Pajala and a second by Bob Brander to name Peterson Road, Dayton Road. Motion carried .

Motion by Donna Chapman and a second by Robert Pratt to name private driveway into Branders, Potters Farm Road or Seagraves Road. Motion carried.

Motion by Diane Brander and a second by Bertha Talvitie to name private road into Roger Hammer and Roy Settgas, Overby Road. Motion carried.

Motion by Shirley Haugen and a second by Ed Pajala to name private driveway into Skoraczewski and Gansen’s, Hannah Road. In Section eight. Motion carried.

Motion by Chapman and a second by Bob Brander to favor historical names and empower Town Board to make changes. Motion carried.

Chairman reported on three bridges on Four Mile Creek, DNR has requested removal.

Motion by Ed Pajala and a second by Marcia Pratt to recommend to the County Board to speed up the 911 System. Motion carried.

Jim Miller reported on land use planning and would like to have a Town of Washburn Committee formed other than Board Members to work on this. Jim Miller made a motion and a second by Bob Brander that Town Board could spend up to $500.00 to get this project started. Motion carried.

Discussed snowplowing private driveways. Motion by Marcia Pratt and a second by Bob Brander to have the Town Board set the snowplowing rate based on actual costs. Motion carried.

Motion by Robert Pratt and a second by Marcia Pratt to recommend the Board set speed limit on Church Corner Road from Paulson Road to County “C” at 45 miles per hour. Motion carried.

Discussed deer shining and beam hitting houses in the Town.

Motion by Diane Brander and a second by Ed Pajala to have next annual meeting on Tuesday April 14, 1998 at 7:00 P.M. Motion carried.

Elected Town officials signed oath of office.

Motion and a second to adjourn. Motion carried.
